Brie is a cute female kitty who was surrendered by her owner on April 6, 2023 along with several other cats who had shared her previous home. Brie was estimated to have been one-year old when she entered our shelter. Brie has an orange tabby short smooth coat, a long ringed tail, and an adorable face with dark golden eyes, a pink nose, and long white whiskers. Brie was a frightened girl when she entered our shelter and suddenly found herself in a small cage and isolated from her kitty friends who had shared her home .. And she showed her fear in only way she knew how (by hissing and showing us her pearly white teeth). Our compassionate kennel techs gave Brie extra TLC and made sure that she knew she was unconditionally loved by them. Brie was given vaccinations and Pyrantel wormer on April 7, 2023. She was given booster vaccines on May 17, 2023. Brie was also combo tested on April 7th 2023 and was negative for feline leukemia and heartworm but tested positive for FIV [Feline Immunodeficiency Virus]. We are listing Brie as a 'Special Needs Kitty' for that reason but we prefer to think of her as merely very special for so many other reasons. A vigilant pet owner who treats secondary infections can assist an FIV-infected cat to live a reasonably long life. The chances that an FIV-infected cat will pass the virus to other cats within a household are slim to none if no serious fighting or biting occurs. Brie was spayed on April 10, 2023 and was also given rabies vaccine. She weighed 8.4 lbs that day. Brie has been a resident of our HSOV Open Cat Room for the past several months where she gets along well with the other kitties in that room, and she has recently begun to open up her circle of friends to include her people friends. Brie loves taking naps in the lofty 'nest' which is anchored high on the wall in the HSOV Open Cat Room and is often seen leisurely twitching her long tail and resting her cute chin while she dreams of a home of her very own. Brie is ready to find an appropriate/loving home of her very own (either through adoption or rescue) with someone who will have patience with her as she acclimates to her new home.
